Abstract

The pandemic caused by the virus SARS-CoV-2 became a global concern because it kept evolving and getting harder to find the vaccine. Even after the pandemic caused by that virus is over, there was another virus outbreak which was monkeypox.
Inspired by these viruses that keep mutating and infecting humans, the writer wanted to make a science fiction novella where a virus is winning against humanity. The objective of this novella are: (1) to portray the future that might happen if there is a virus that evolves and defeats humanity, and also (2) to portray that making decisions
in such tough times is difficult. To achieve those objectives the writer made a story about a group of teenagers of subject experimentation that have to make tough
decisions to go to the outside world, set in the near future. During the completion of this project, the writer learned how to describe that fictional world to the reader
through words in detail. The writer also had some ifficulties that could become lessons to become a better author, which are: (1) making a science fiction world
requires thoughtful brainstorming, (2) changing the plot requires double checking to avoid plot holes, and (3) making a novella requires sufficient knowledge about the
tenses and the formats of a novel/novella. Keywords: creative writing, science fiction, novella, virus, emotions, decision.
