Abstract

Meniran (Phyllantus niruri L.) and bark of faloak (Sterculia quadrifida R.Br.) are plants that have been tested to have immunomodulatory activity. The two plants were then formulated in MCH1 syrup (Ma Chung 1) with a ratio of
0.96993: 0.0300704 and tested for immunomodulatory activity. Based on the results of this study concluded that MCH1 syrup was shown to have immunomodulatory activity. This study aims to determine the safety of the MCH1 syrup formula by using acute toxicity tests and LD50 determination. This study was conducted using posttest only control group design by
giving MCH1 syrup orally in several dosage levels to several groups of male white rats (Rattus norvegicus). Then the observations of the behavior, weight of test animals, and histopathological examination of the liver including
degeneration, congestion, and necrosis to determine the existence of liver damage at the cellular level.
The results showed that LD50 values were not found in the MCH1 syrup formula with the highest dose of 750 mg / day and there were no test animals that showed symptoms of toxicity. In addition, MCH1 syrup administration had a significant influence on the liver histopathology of male white rats as evidenced by liver histopathological examination in the form of degeneration, congestion, and necrosis. But the damage that occurs can still be said to be normal because the
level of damage is light and easy to regenerate.
