Abstract

Malaria is a disease transmitted through the bite of a female anopheles mosquito that lives and reproduces in erythrocytes. Malaria can cause hypoglycemia due to the effects of increased glucose uptake by the malaria parasite and from antimalarials. In a study conducted at the Nggongi Center, there were malaria patients with DM complications, where DM was a metabolic disorder caused by the pancreas unable to produce insulin, increasing hyperglycemia.
This study aims to see the effect of antimalarial administration in malaria patients with DM complications on the patient's recovery rate. The things examined in this study were the use of antimalarial drugs, the patient's cure
rate, the glucose levels of malaria patients without DM, and complications of DM. This research is an analytic observational study using a case-control method and retrospective data collection with a population of 45 people, data analysis used is the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test, multiple linear regression, Independent Sample T-Test, and Paired Sample T-TestFrom the test results, it can be concluded that there is no relationship between glucose
levels in malaria patients without DM and malaria patients with DM complications on the patient's recovery rate. Furthermore, there is a difference between the cure rate for malaria patients without DM and malaria patients with DM complicationsKeywords: Malaria, Diabetes Mellitus, Effect of antimalarials, the cure rate
