Abstract

Binahong (Basella rubra L.) is a plant that can potentially overcome various diseases of the family Basellaceae, binahong plants (Basella rubra L.) have the characteristics of single leafed, short stemed (subsessile), light green, thin leaf blade, shaped like a leaf heart (kerdata), poin leaf tips, flat leaf edge, pinnate shape, smooth surface, about 5 cm - 10 cm long and about 3 cm -7 cm wide, binahong
(Basella rubra L.) contains secondary metabolites such as flavonoids, alkaloid, tannins, steroids, triterpenoids, saponins, and essential oils. The purpose of this
study was to determine the antioxidant activity of red binahong leaf extract (Basella rubra L.) on ethanol, ethyl acetate, n-hexane solvents using DPPH and FRAP
antioxidant test methods. Data analysis technique used was an antioxidant test to determine difference in the amount of IC50 in n-hexane, ethyl acetate and ethanol
with the same concentration. The results of antioxidant activity tests stated in IC50with the DPPH method of the most powerful is solvents ethanol 36.74ppm, ethyl
acetate 52.91ppm, n-hexane 53.37ppm. the most powerful FRAP method is solvent ethanol 37.29ppm, ethyl acetate 50.49ppm, n-hexane 51.14ppm.Keywords: Antioxidants, Red Binahong Leaves (Basella rubra L.), DPPH, FRAP
