Abstract
Lisinopril is an antihypertensive drug from the angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitor (ACEi) class of drugs which can have a side effect of dry cough. This study to assess
the risk of using ACE inhibitor which causes dry cough in hypertensive patients in the church setting. The design of this study was analytic case control. The inclusion criteria were hypertensive patients using ACE inhibitor group> 3 months, age range 35-60 years and willing to participate in the study. Subjects consisted of 49 patients using lisinopril and 49 patients who did not use lisinopril who were taken by nonprobability sampling in April-May 2020. The data collection tools used structured interviews and questionnaires. The incidence of dry cough due to
ACE inhibitor was evaluated using the Naranjo algorithm and the data were analyzed using the Chi-square test. The incidence of dry cough occurred in 13.3% of subjects. Gender, body mass index, and blood pressure did not have a significant relationship with the incidence of dry cough
using ACE inhibitor and age, occupation, smoking had a significant relationship.Key words: hypertension, ACE inhibitor, lisinopril, dry cough
