Abstract

This research paper is an analysis of Lizzy as the main character from Instant Family Movie, which is directed by Sean Anders. Lizzy is an adopted child who was adopted by
Pete and Ellie. It's not easy for her to deal with the new foster parents, Pete and Ellie. Because she hoped that her biological mother would come and take her back along with her siblings. She always did the things that upset Pete and Ellie as the foster parents. The writer analyzes Lizzy’s characterization and the conflicts with which she deals in this movie. The theories that the writer uses are literary theory, character and characterization theory, theory
of conflict, and movie theory to find out how Lizzy, the main character, deals with her conflicts in the movie. The method of research that the writer used in this research is
descriptive-qualitative. This method is used to answer the objectives of the studies: 1. To identify how Lizzy is characterized in the movie. 2. To find out Lizzy’s conflicts. 3. To describe how Lizzy deals with her conflicts. She gathered the data by watching the movie
several times and also doing library research on the same topic, which is about the main character and how its characterization deals with their conflicts.
The findings of this research will answer the objectives of the studies that the writer
already mentioned above. The writer found tha Lizzy had both internal and external conflicts. The internal conflict was with herself, while the external conflict was with Pete
and Ellie, as well as her biological mother. Keywords: Character, Characterization, Conflicts, Mise-en-Scène
