Abstract
Herbal medicine indicates the term plant or plant part that has been converted to phytopharmacy through a simple process including planting, drying, and storing. Quality assurance of herbal products required by standardization consists of total information and control as a basis for guaranteeing composition. Quality control of herbal products requires tools such as chromatographic analysis, spectroscopy,
thermogravimetry, capillary electrophoresis and polarographic techniques. All herbal product manufacturers must follow the Word Health Organization guidelines for
quality control, which emphasizes the importance of quality and quantitative methods for characterizing samples. The purpose of the desired standardization and quality
assurance is authenticity, purity, and the test and most importantly of every herbal product formulation is standardization that ensures quality, safety and reproducibility. Standardization methods, testing and quality control of herbal products are very important needed for producers and consumers as well as drugs for various diseases.Keywords: Herbal Medicine, Standardization, Quality Control
