Abstract
Indonesia is a country with a population of 261.6 million people in 2016. A survey with 131,339 respondents stated that 12.15% of the respondents are persons with disabilities, and only 5.92% of 12.15% have formal jobs (SAKERNAS, 2016). Jobs in the modern era take advantage of the use of computers in their work. The design of the pointing device using the upper arm is intended to help people with disabilities operate the computer more easily according to their physical condition. The use of inertial sensors, blueetooth, and footswitch is the key to the design of this prototype. There were 9 respondents without disabilities who tested with ISO 9241-411 testing instrumentation which adheres to Fitts' Law. Respondents were divided into 3 groups, each of which had a different order of difficulty which was arranged using the Latin square method. The test will produce quantitative data
containing Time of Movement and Throughput. The questionnaire was filled out after the Fitts' Law test to obtain qualitative data to determine the comfort level and
fatigue level of the device. Both quantitative and qualitative data will be used to compare the performance, comfort level, and fatigue level of the prototype with the
mouse. The statistical test results show that the mouse has better performance than the two existing prototypes, this is evidenced by the mouse's superiority to the Throughput value with a difference in value of 3.96 for prototype A and 3.86 for prototype B and the low value of Time of Movement with a difference of 7 , 83 for prototype A and 6.58 for prototype B. Qualitative mouse data has a better value based on the Wilcoxon Signed Rank test with the comparison of prototype A to the mouse with values (Z = -6.162, p = 0.000) for comfort level and (Z = -4.023, p = 0.000) for the level of fatigue, while the comparison for prototype B and mouse is
(Z = -6.105, p = 0.000) for the level of comfort and (Z = -3.900, p = 0.000) for the level of fatigue. In general, the prototype can be used to replace the mouse, but the
performance improvements related to Throughput and Time of Movement will make the prototype more feasible to use.
