Abstract

This report contains the writer’s experience during the internship program at TranslationLinker, a translation agency in Malang, East Java. This internship program aims to implement both theories and practices from Literary ranslation and Translation and Interpretation class into the working world. It gives general information about the agency then followed by the writer's detailed activities during
his internship program. During the internship, the writer found two problems which are (1) Unnatural translation to reviewers, and (2) Seeking the equivalent phrase or
word from the Source Language (English) to the Target Language (Indonesian). As a solution to the first problem, the writer needs to provide a better translation by
choosing alternative words, word placement, and sentence structures that are more common and widely used by the readers of the target language. Moreover, the writer
must acknowledge that most of the reviewer's translation is significantly superior in terms of its naturalness. For that reason, target readers will be more interested in
the reviewer's version of the translation. The solution for the second problem is that the writer needs to find the closest equivalent of the phrase whose concept has been
well considered. The phrase whose equivalent has been found in the target language needs to be placed at the front of the sentence so that the translation sounds natural
to the target reader. TranslationLinker is the best translation agency and the good opportunity for the interns who are interested in the world of translation since it
provides any fascinating, great translation job description, and a cozy room to work in. It also has number of skilled mentors who will give the interns many inspiration.
