Abstract

This is a combination of reader response criticism, structuralism and literary analysis research on the effects of alternative endings on viewers’ interpretations of the plot of Black Mirror: Bandersnatch. The objectives of
this research are to find the alternative endings in Black Mirror: Bandersnatch, the meta plot of the movie and to understand the effect of alternative endings on viewers’ interpretations of the movie. This study is focused on the analysis of the comparison between the meta plot of the movie and the plot that has been interpreted by the viewers after watching the movie. This research was analyzed using the theory of plot in literature. The approach applied in this research was reader-response criticism. Since the writer uses movie for her studied material, this study is termed as qualitative study. The writer uses the
interpretive approach to analyze the movie. The result of this research is the alternative endings of Black Mirror: Bandersnatch brings impact on how the viewers interpret the plot of the movie.
