Abstract
This paper reports the non-thesis translation project of translating a novel with title Cinderella is Dead by Kalynn Bayron. The objective of this report to helpIndonesian people can easily read the novel with Indonesia language, also make Indonesian people more open-minded about LGBT. This novel raised the theme of Cinderella fairytale and lesbianism. The writer focuses on translating chapter 1 until 9 to be easier in analyzing the problems during the translation. The methods used by the writer is targeteers which focus on the target readers by using Communicative Translation, naturalization, and adaptation, so the target readers could easily understand the meaning. The writer encountered difficulties in translating idioms and jokes, also some of the translation still in word-to-word,
translating uncommon expression, and dictions. Therefore, the writer solved the problem by applying thought-by-thought translation, and naturalization method to produce an accurate and natural translation under the title Cinderella Sudah Meninggal.Key Words: Translation, Lesbian, Fairy tales.
