Abstract

This paper reports the project of translating Star-Crossed by Barbara Dee that thewriter has conducted as her final undergraduate paper. The project was conductedin response to the LGBT issues increasing in this era. It is a fiction novel andraises social issues, friendship, and family life among young adults. The writer'smethod focused on the target readers by using Communicative Translation, alsogiving notes and cultural equivalents to some unpopular words, so the targetreader could easily understand the meaning. ommunicative translation attemptsto provide the actual contextual meaning of the original work so that both context
and language are readily acceptable to the readership of Star-Crossed by BarbaraDee. The writer encountered difficulties during the translation specifically in
translating idioms and poems. However, to overcome the problems, the writerfollowed the theories and research done by the experts and ultimately produced acomprehensive and accurate translation under the title Star-Crossed by Barbara
