Abstract
Child abuse is a form of violence that has a wide range of consequences and has anegative impact on children's future. However, many families, particularly parents,continue to use child abuse methods to educate and shape their children's
personalities. This thesis aims to give everyone, especially parents in Indonesia, anoverview of the adverse effects of child abuse. To fulfill the purpose of this thesis,the author chose to translate Abigail Dean's novel Girl A. This novel tells the storyof a child who witnesses his parents' violence. This novel contains numerous scenesof violence against children. Several acts of violence are depicted in this novel,ranging from beatings to the main character's starvation. The novel was translatedusing various techniques, including transposition, literal translation, adaptation,calque, reduction, and modulation. During the writing process, the writerencountered several translation issues, including miss translation, the use of affixes,
the use and suitability of the subject, and adaptation of the cultural source language.However, the writer can overcome these issues by adjusting the translation results
using techniques, research, and advice from advisors.
